In a high-rise community, the building schedule can be as important as the truck schedule. Access instructions change between properties and over time, so the resident or tenant should obtain the latest requirements directly from management.

Ask each building the right questions

Contact both the property you are leaving and the property you are entering. Ask whether a move permit, refundable deposit, contractor documents or tenancy evidence is required and how long approval normally takes.

Request the approved service route, lift dimensions and loading location. A general instruction such as ‘use the back entrance’ is not enough for a crew arriving at a large tower.

  • Move date and permitted hours
  • Service-lift booking process
  • Loading-bay or parking location
  • Protective covering requirements

Share confirmed information with your mover

Forward approved timings and operational instructions, not only the building name. Include the responsible security or facilities contact if management permits it.

Tell the mover about lift capacity, corridor turns and any pieces that may not fit. A pre-move survey or measurement check may be appropriate for oversized items.

  • Tower and apartment number
  • Access-card collection process
  • Vehicle-height restrictions
  • Goods that need special approval

Build a timing buffer

Loading bays and service lifts can become unavailable if an earlier booking overruns or an emergency takes priority. Avoid scheduling key handovers with no margin around the move.

If the approved slot is short, discuss whether packing should happen earlier so the access period is used mainly for moving items.

  • Pack before the lift window
  • Keep paperwork accessible
  • Avoid blocking common areas
  • Notify the mover of delays immediately

Respect shared spaces

High-rise moves affect neighbours, reception teams and building operations. Keep corridors clear, follow protection instructions and use only approved routes.

At the destination, direct boxes to rooms promptly so the lift and entrance remain usable. Remove loose packing debris and follow the building's disposal rules.

  • Use a designated crew contact
  • Protect lift and doorway surfaces
  • Control loose materials
  • Complete building sign-out if required
